Hours on the water
Sailing means long days in the open. A club race can take an afternoon, a regatta runs over several days, and a coaching session at a sailing school often keeps young sailors on the water for most of the morning.
There is nowhere to go for cover on a small boat, and the sun comes back off the water and the deck as well as from above. Crews also spend time rigging ashore and waiting on the start line, still in full sun. Dinghy sailors, keelboat crews and the race team on the committee boat all spend the day in the same light.
Why cover matters
Most sailors already wear a long sleeve top on the water for this reason, which is why a long sleeve crew top sits at the centre of our sailing kit. It is a tight knit with no open mesh where the sun hits, and it dries quickly after spray.
For cooler mornings and the wind on the way back in, the Alpine Quarter Zip goes over the crew top in the same colours. Shorts complete the kit, and every piece carries your club’s crest and our signature.
The pieces
- Long sleeve crew top
- Raglan sleeves for moving around the boat, with your crest, a crew name and a number if you want one.
- Shorts
- Light shorts with an elastic waist and a drawcord, in your colours.
- Alpine Quarter Zip
- Our quarter zip in the club colours, for the start and the sail home.

More cover when you want it

Questions
Can a sailing school order for juniors and coaches?
Yes. Youth sizes run from S to XL and adult sizes from XS to 3XL, so juniors, instructors and coaches can share one design, with sizes mixed in one order.
Can each boat have its own name or sail number?
Yes. A boat name, a crew name or a sail number can go across the back of each crew top, with your club’s crest on the front.
How many pieces do we need to order?
The minimum is 10 pieces per design, with sizes mixed, so a small club can order crew tops for every sailor and coach in one design.
